Mission
– To make disciples for college life and life after college
– To provide a campus ministry in the name of Jesus Christ to all students
– To facilitate a faith-orientated educational experience, based on Wesleyan principles, for students
– To minister to students, providing spiritual direction
– To provide faith-based outreach events for students
– To provide an authentic place of worship for students to experience fellowship with others and grow in faith
Reports to
(1) Board of Directors of Wesley Foundation at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and (2) the United Methodist Committee on Higher Education and Campus Ministry
Purpose
The Wesley Foundation minister/director is counselor, administrator, educator, leader of worship, theological leader, and organizer. The campus minister/director must give time and energy to those roles which will be of greatest benefit to the students and the campus. The full-time Wesley Foundation Campus Minister/Director whose duties involve administration, strategy, and initiative is the primary innovator and coordinator of the church’s ministries on the campus.

Board Expectations and Position Responsibilities
Develop and implement fundraising plans to meet financial obligations
Identify potential funding sources, including individual donors, sponsors, foundations, and grants, and organize donor engagement activities; build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and stakeholders
Receive all correspondence, deposit income, maintain organization records, and work with the board accountant to comply with all conference, legal, and audit requirements
Plan and coordinate activities and events held at The Barn Wesley
Dedicate daily time to have The Barn open for students
Communicate and partner with other campus/college organizations
Develop and mentor a Wesley Foundation leadership team
Be present at college athletic and campus events
Network on campus with students, faculty, staff, and administration
Conduct
1) a weekly worship service/activity and
2) a weekly Bible study at The Barn Wesley Foundation for students
Plan and conduct outreach events for students
Build connections within the Mississippi United Methodist Conference
Participate in campus ministry trainings via Mississippi United Methodist Conference
Visit district churches twice each month of the year
Be inclusive and welcoming to all students from varying backgrounds
Lead at least one race and reconciliation retreat yearly
Minimum Qualifications
Commitment to campus ministry
A minimum of an associate’s degree
Hold membership in a local United Methodist Church with willingness to work within the structures of The United Methodist Church and the Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist Church
Follow the guidelines and policies of the Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist Church Committee on Higher Education and Campus Ministry
Live a Christ-like lifestyle consistent with the ethics and standards of our Christian faith
