Position Summary
The Director of Strategic Analytics will serve as a key partner to APMA’s departments and committees, helping them define and achieve their objectives through data-driven insights. This individual will collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their goals, determine what data is necessary, and develop strategies to use that data effectively to support their initiatives and storytelling efforts. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between data science and organizational needs, ensuring that analytics empower decision-making and advocacy.
This role is a hybrid position and works from the APMA Headquarters in Rockville, MD on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays unless other circumstances arise.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Analytics & Stakeholder Collaboration
Engage with APMA departments and committees to understand their goals, challenges, and desired narratives.
Identify and recommend the best data sources and analytics methods to support organizational objectives.
Translate complex data insights into compelling, actionable stories that resonate with stakeholders.
Data Strategy & Management
Develop frameworks for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data in a way that aligns with APMA’s mission.
Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across departments.
Work with IT/data team to implement tools and processes for efficient data management.
Advanced Analytics & Reporting
Create predictive models, trend analyses, and dashboards to inform strategic decisions.
Support advocacy, membership, education, and other APMA initiatives with data-driven insights.
Develop and present reports that clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Organizational Impact & Continuous Improvement
Proactively identify opportunities for data-driven improvements within APMA.
Train and support staff in using analytics tools and understanding data insights.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance APMA’s analytics capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Public Health, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
5+ years in analytics, business intelligence, or a related field, with experience in stakeholder engagement.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or similar analytics tools.
Experience with data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
Understanding of data storytelling, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to translate data into actionable insights.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and leadership.
A strategic mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in healthcare, association management, or nonprofit sectors.
Knowledge of member engagement analytics, policy research, or advocacy data.
