Position: Director, Donor Experience & Insights
THE OPPORTUNITY
Campfire Circle is seeking a collaborative leader and engaged, data‑driven fundraising professional to serve as our new Director, Donor Experience and Insights. This pivotal leadership role sits at the centre of fundraising operations and donor engagement strategy, shaping how data, systems, insights, and stewardship converge to drive meaningful, donor‑centred impact.
The Director will oversee fundraising operations and database management; gift processing; donor stewardship and recognition; prospect research and pipeline management; analytics and reporting. The role requires a systems‑level perspective rather than deep technical expertise in each function, ensuring teams and functions are aligned, integrated, and collaboratively advancing Campfire Circle’s objectives and priorities.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and serving on the development leadership team, the Director will lead the creation and execution of integrated fundraising operations, business intelligence, and donor experience strategies that reflect organizational priorities and values. The role will ensure fundraising performance is clearly understood, effectively communicated, and leveraged to inform strategic decision‑making.
As an exceptional team leader, the incumbent will coach its staff, foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and steward budget, resources, talent, and an inclusive workplace.
Position is hybrid: work from the Toronto office 2–3 times per week in an open concept environment. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required. The incumbent must be a non‑smoker in consideration of the population served.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Planning
- Lead the development of all fundraising operations and donor experience functions.
- Develop, execute, and evaluate donor experience business plans and performance goals aligned with the organization’s strategy and values.
- Contribute expertise and partnership to the Development leadership team, supporting integrated planning and organisational effectiveness.
- Implement a comprehensive business intelligence strategy to support fundraising and inform future strategy with Development, Marketing, Communications, and IT.
- Manage the Donor Experience team budget and resources.
- Collaborate to implement information systems, infrastructure, policies and operational procedures that support best practice in donor relationship management, insights, and analytics.
- Provide oversight and direction to staff in alignment with strategic planning and annual objectives, developing clear guidelines for group projects and progress tracking.
- Lead weekly or biweekly team meetings, develop agendas, and follow up on responsibilities.
- Supervise and mentor Senior Managers and Managers across prospect research, data management, donor experience, and gift processing.
- Support recruitment, selection, onboarding, career development, and ongoing training in partnership with Human Resources.
- Manage staff performance through regular check‑ins, documentation of achievements, and annual goal setting and performance reviews.
- Promote strong employee relations within and beyond the Donor Experience department, fostering a collaborative workplace culture.
- Develop and promote a healthy, safe, and wellness‑focused work environment.
Fundraising Insights and Research
- Lead pipeline development and strategy using data‑driven reports and analytics to identify trends, assess performance, and inform strategic decisions that strengthen donor acquisition, retention, and long‑term engagement.
- Oversee the development of reports and mechanisms to track moves management and fundraising KPIs.
- Monitor and evaluate fundraising performance, preparing comprehensive reports for leadership, committees, and the Board of Directors.
- Support donor lead generation through gift analysis and collaborative research, strengthening the donor pipeline by identifying opportunities to upgrade and convert existing and lapsed donors.
