Job Description

The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship (ASF) is a national non-profit organization with ten chapters across the US. ASF prepares the next generation of health leaders who have the skills, imagination, and experience to partner with communities to advance health equity. ASF does this by selecting graduate and professional degree students for a year-long experience, during which Fellows lead community-based, mentored health initiatives and participate in aninterdisciplinaryleadership developmentprogram.

ASF perpetuates the legacy and philosophy of famed physician-humanitarian Dr. Albert Schweitzer.

The Director for The Tulsa Albert Schweitzer Fellowship (ASF Tulsa) provides organizational, strategic, programmatic, and operationalleadershipfor the program. The Director reports to the Dean of the TU Oxley College of Health and Natural Science and/or the Dean’s designate, and draws counsel and advice from the chapter’s local advisory board and Fellowship alumni. The Fellowship draws students from TU, OU-Tulsa/OU-School of Community Medicine, and OSU-Tulsa/OSU-Center for Health Sciences, including the Cherokee Nation campus.

The Tulsa Chapter launched in 2015 and has over 100 Fellows for Life.

This is a FT position based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Programming

Advise, supervise, and mentor Fellows as they develop and lead their community-based health projects and in theirleadership development.

Organize and lead Fellowship activities including annual orientation, mid-year retreat, monthly meetings, and annual celebration event; including development and implementation of curriculum to address Fellowship’s core competencies.

Develop and implement curriculum to address the Fellowship’s core competencies.

Cultivate and foster relationships with current, past, and future community site mentors.

Review and respond to monthly and final reports from Fellows, providing relevant feedback, support, and mentorship.

Direct and manage the recruitment and competitive selection of new Fellows, including mentorship and support of applicants as they identify community-based project opportunities.

Maintaincommunicationwith Fellows for Life and identify opportunities for ongoing engagement andleadership development, including mentorship of new Fellows.

Remainup-to-dateon local and national initiatives and trends in public health, health equity,leadership development, philanthropy,community engagement, and adult learning.

Finance and Administration

Establish annual budget and fundraising goals, and longer-term development plan.

Direct and monitor financial expenditures.

Communicate relevant information about finances to supervisor and advisory board.

Process stipend requests for Fellows.

Maintain contact information for Fellows and Fellows for Life.

Fundraising and Development

Lead ASF-Tulsa’s advisory board.

Identify strategies to meet annual fundraising goals, in concert with Oxley College Development Director.

Prepare and submit grant proposals and reports.

Represent Fellowship at relevant meetings.

Assure grant compliance, reporting, and subsequent continued cultivation; cultivate new funders with support.
