Our mission is to improve coordination and collaboration before, during, and after emergencies, disasters, and critical humanitarian situations.
Board Member Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate board member to help guide our strategic vision and support our critical work in humanitarian coordination. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in humanitarian efforts, emergency response, or nonprofit leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic oversight and governance for Conversa Corps’ mission and operations
Contribute to long-term organizational planning and strategic direction
Actively participate in fundraising efforts, including:
Identifying and cultivating potential donors
Supporting grant writing initiatives
Leveraging personal and professional networks to secure financial resources
Ensure financial accountability and review organizational budgets
Assist in developing and monitoring the organization’s key performance indicators
Represent Conversa Corps in professional networks and community forums
Participate in board meetings and committee work
Help expand the organization’s impact and reach in humanitarian coordination efforts
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
Humanitarian aid and community support
Disaster response coordination
Emergency management
Nonprofit board leadership
Demonstrated commitment to improving global humanitarian response
Strong network in humanitarian, nonprofit, or emergency response sectors
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
Willingness to contribute personal time, expertise, and potential financial support
Desired Background
Candidates with experience in:
International NGO operations
Disaster technologies
Humanitarian team coordination
Cross-sector collaboration
Multi-team, multi-sector leadership
Digital communication tools
Time Commitment
Approximately 10-15 hours per month
Quarterly board meetings
Additional committee work and strategic planning sessions
Compensation
This is a volunteer leadership position. Board members are expected to contribute their expertise, time, and potentially make a personal financial contribution to support the organization’s mission.
