Sunshine Communities, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Northwest Ohio supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through residential, vocational, clinical, therapeutic, and recreational services. These services are offered in various circumstances including at our Maumee, Ohio campus and at homes within the community. In addition to programs on campus, Sunshine individuals and staff operate in downtown Maumee, Georgettes Grounds and Gifts, a coffee shop and Sunshine Studios, an art studio space with a fair trade gift store offering classes to individuals and the community.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
One to two years dietary related experience and/or training.
Skilled with using technology including Microsoft Office, email, computer programs, data entry.
Valid Drivers License, good driving record, and proof of auto insurance.
Able to lift 50 pounds & pass a criminal background check.

SUMMARY:SUMMARY: The Dietary Supervisor directs and coordinates food service activities in both on and off campus locations (Base facility, vocational, community sites) by performing the following duties in collaboration with the Dietary Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Sunshine’s Leadership Model, policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ensures coverage for vacations, call-ins, leaves of absence in coordination with the Dietary Manger
In conjunction with Dietitian/Dietary Manager works to ensure that menus and department policies conform to nutritional standards, government regulations, and internal procedures such as individual specific considerations for clients as needed
Assist with purchasing food and supplies and makes sure monthly food cost is within budget
Plans and coordinates standards and procedures of food storage, preparation, and service; equipment and department sanitation; and employee safety
Carries out the master menu in on and off site locations, adjusts for nutritionally equivalent substitutes and emergencies. Records menu changes per input from home staff and individuals.
Assist with training of DSP staff in homes to include: menu planning, grocery shopping, following recipes, cooking, therapeutic diets, etc
Reviews individuals diet information and discusses requests, changes, choices and inconsistencies with professional staff, and/or individuals team
Maintain dietary records and prepare required data for reports for management or administrative personnel
Inspects food, food preparation, storage areas and equipment. Tastes, smells, and observes food to ensure conformance with recipes and appearance standards.
Periodically checks diet trays before they leave the kitchen area and in the homes on and off campus for accuracy.
Reviews individuals diet information and discusses requests, changes, choices and inconsistencies with professional staff, and/or individuals team.
Makes production sheets for the kitchen; keeps records for reimbursement from school food service.
Works shifts in the kitchen as scheduled.
Provides quality and appealing food for Sunshine individuals, special events and the Sunshine market.
Works in conjunction with the Dietary Manager and Market tech on planning food items, marketing and expanding services for the market.
Attends all required meetings with employees, Sunshine, and/or regulatory personnel to discuss regulations, procedures, and recommendations for improving food service in conjunction with the Dietary Manager.
Plans and assists in preparation of special meals for parties, banquets as needed
