GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Specialist plays an important role by performing a variety of skilled administrative and clerical activities, with emphasis on maintaining the Raiser’s Edge database for reporting, communications, campaigns and events and managing volunteer opportunities at ECS.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide support in planning, executing and managing fundraising events, including the annual signature fundraising event, donor cultivation events, and other programmatic outreach events, for the benefit of ECS clients.
Identify and cultivate potential high-level donors, manage donor relationships, and secure sponsorships for events.
Manage Raiser’s Edge donor database, including processing charitable donations, running query and fundraising-related reports, crafting donor acknowledgment letters, and providing reconciliation reports to team members and stakeholders.
Manage in-kind donations efforts, determining the needs of clients and providing information to Development Team.
Manage volunteer efforts, determining needs of programs and providing information to prospective volunteers.
Manage volunteer applications, provide orientation to volunteers and specialized training where appropriate, and arrange supervision and evaluation of projects.
Create and maintain internal donor files and databases.
Assist with special fundraising initiatives and events, including the preparation of collateral materials, publicity, volunteers, committee members, and day-of logistics.
Provide support in the coordination and distribution of direct mail appeals.
Provides department support for various Board committees including preparing meeting agendas, taking and disseminating minutes, and loading appropriate meeting documents into SharePoint.
Conduct donor research and provide recommendations leading to the identification of prospective donors by utilizing internal and external sources and databases, including online, electronic, printed, publications and leadership networks.
Prepare confidential profiles and briefings for the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Development, and Annual Giving Manager and assist in the planning of meetings and strategy.
Coordinate program events such as lunches and holiday events to engage churches and other partners in activities that support, encourage, and engage our clients.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts Business Administration or related field or three (3) years of progressive administrative responsibility in a non-profit organization. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience with Raiser’s Edge fund management software or related system is required and a dedication to data integrity, confidentiality, systems and upkeep.
OTHER/SPECIAL: Ability to pass a physical examination, drug/alcohol and tuberculin skin test. Fingerprint clearance and criminal check required. Free from exclusion and debarment. Verification of current driver’s license and insurance required for personal car usage.

Pay: $21.00 – $27.00 per hour
