About Project 8p Foundation:

Project 8p Foundation is a nonprofit biotech organization established in late 2018. We are dedicated to researching 8p disorders to uncover treatment options and provide meaningful answers to affected individuals and their families. As a patient-led, open-science organization, Project 8p prioritizes collaboration, transparency, and resource sharing to fulfill its mission. Currently, there is no cure for 8p disorders, nor is there a standard treatment protocol. Project 8p is committed to translating research into therapies and scaling our learnings to address other complex neurological chromosome diseases.

The Role

The Development Manager will proactively work to support the mission to empower a unified community for chromosome 8p heroes for a meaningful life today while accelerating treatments for tomorrow. This role requires both internal and external responsibilities, including donor cultivation and community engagement with strong project management abilities. Performance metrics will include prospects numbers, call numbers, solicitation, and stewardship outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

Familiarize yourself with chromosome 8p disorders, the foundation’s mission, and its strategic operating plan through onboarding materials and independent research.
Aid in the design and lead the implementation of fundraising campaigns and events, with metrics and communication plans to engage all donor segments including corporations
Schedule donor calls, track donor engagement, contribute to development operations plan
Strong organizational and project management skills
Create and manage peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives
Establish resources for 8p families with practical and creative ways for them to utilize such platforms with their personal and extended networks
Lead volunteer committees as part of extended development team
Create and maintain strong internal and external relationships; exceptional relationship builder
Cultivate a targeted and assigned portfolio of donors and prospective donors
Build robust network of influencers and prospective funders/grantors
Conduct regular face-to-face and/or phone and online communication with such donors
Help create donor portfolios for the extended development team and assist with implementation including scheduling, tracking and manage actions needed from the extended team, and supply them with all needed materials and instructions to be effective
Prepare individual proposals for major donors
Maintain the Prospect Management Reports to tracks all actions with prospective and current donors
Evaluate and report on fundraising and grant impact and program effectiveness

Professional Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience, including donor research, event management, and cultivation and solicitation of major gifts.
Proven track record in project management from conception to implementation.
Independent worker with a track record of experience initiating solicitation calls to new foundations, corporations, and/or individual donors.
Success cultivating and advancing relationships with existing donors.
Experience managing individual donations and securing major gifts.

Strong work ethic with an understanding of grassroots organizations
Takes initiative in bringing new out of the box ideas for finding and cultivating new donors
Strong interpersonal skills including interfacing and engaging diverse volunteer and donor groups as well as collaborating with and motivating board members and other volunteers
Strong project management and organizational skills including planning, program development and task facilitation
Transparent and high integrity work style; meets deadlines

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree
Highly motivated to make an impact for a new disease-specific patient-centric foundation
Highly collaborative, with a strong ability to project manage and get things done (individually and through others) in an expeditious manner
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and project management software
