The New School seeks a full-time Development Associate, Institutional Giving to support the Institutional Giving team within the Development and Alumni Engagement department. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Institutional Giving and Academic Initiatives, the Development Associate plays a key role in advancing foundation and corporate fundraising efforts. Under their direction, this person will provide administrative support to the institutional giving team who is responsible for the University’s foundation and corporate fundraising. The primary tasks include–though are not limited to–administrative support for the team, managing internal systems, prospect research, writing and editing donor communications, data entry and reporting, and acting as a point of first contact for University partners.

Responsibilities
Assist in preparing a spectrum of institutional constituent communications including personalized correspondence, custom proposals, tailored reports and presentations.
Provide administrative assistance, such as writing and editing emails, drafting briefs, and preparing communications on the Institutional Giving team members behalf.
Conduct research on corporate and foundation prospects that align with The New School’s priority areas and programmatic needs.
Manage data entry for the Institutional Giving team including prospect research, donor outreach, correspondence, meetings, and proposals into the database (Salesforce) under the guidance and direction of the Assistant Vice President and Development Research.
Assist the Assistant Vice President with project management through proactively organizing and preparing for meetings and major deadlines and ensuring efficient prospect-to-proposal workflow.
Assist Institutional Giving and Academic Initiatives team members with reporting and analysis needs.
Develop administrative systems and processes to improve efficiency of team workflows.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, plus 1-3 years of experience in prospect research, development, corporate partnerships, or a similar field, preferably in an educational or nonprofit organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess giving affinity, capacity, and alignment with institutional priorities.
Proficiency in prospect research tools and database management.
Ability to work with all levels of employees across the University and cultivate relationships.
Proficiency with Google Suite and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with InDesign.
WORK MODE
Hybrid – Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.
SALARY RANGE
$64,350 – $66,300 annually
