JOB SUMMARY:

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) is seeking a highly organized, enthusiastic, and motivated Development Associate to

join ourdynamicteam

. The Development Associate plays a key role in supporting the museum’s fundraising efforts, donor relations, and membership initiatives. This individual works closely with the Sr. Director, Development, and other staff to ensure the smooth operation of the museum’s development programs and help foster meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, and members, while supporting the mission and vision of the Museum throughout performance of duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Donor Support & Stewardship:

Prepare timely gift acknowledgment letters and other correspondence for donors.

Assist with organizing donor and memberappreciationevents, tours, and special programs.

Administer and manage all gift processing for membership gifts at the Curator’s and Director’s Circles; track gift processing and acknowledgements.

Serve as the primary source for donorrecognitioninformation, including how donors are referenced in credit lines, donor signage, etc.

Collaborate with the Director’s Office on tracking and preparing trustee giving reports and capital campaign tracking.

Work collaboratively with the Development and Director’s Office teams to develop donor impact reports for major annual and campaign gifts.

Support the execution of fundraising events, including annual galas and art auctions.

Help coordinate logistics for donor cultivation and stewardship events.

Research & Reporting:

Conduct research on prospective donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities to support the museum’s fundraising initiatives.

Assist with the preparation of donor reports, proposals, and presentations.

Database:

With the Database Associate, ensure accurate donation and constituent records, timely follow-ups, and tracking of donations.

Work with the Database Associate to continually fine-tune the prospect pipeline using data analysis, industry trends, and best practices.

Complete the life-cycle of a donation, from entry to acknowledgement, in line with best practices.

With the Sr. Director, Development, implement and maintain strategic moves management plan. Ensure moves management data integrity, including contact report, tasks, notes, proposals, assignments, programs, and associated moves.

Administrative Support:

Provide administrative support to the Sr. Director, Development.

Administer and coordinate execution of special projects, such as holiday mailings, procuring art fair passes, tracking special event RSVPs in Altru, and mailing donor gifts.

Help maintain donor files, tracking systems, and donor engagement materials.

Assist with monthly budget reconciliation and budget creation with department stakeholders.

Work alternate special event shifts, including weekends and/or after regular business hours as needed.

Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safework environment.
