Day Shelter Support Jobs in Burlington, VT at COMMITTEE ON TEMPORARY SHELTER

COTS is seeking compassionate, dedicated individuals to join our team at the Daystation, our day resource center supporting adults experiencing homelessness. Whether you’re experienced in human services or simply passionate about helping others, we welcome you to apply.


AVAILABLE HOURS:


Friday

  • 9am to 5pm
  • 9am to 11am


Saturday

  • 9am to noon
  • 9am to 5pm
  • 9am to 5pm


PAY:

  • $24.0724.70 based on combination of education and experience

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Greeting and signing in guests
  • Assisting guests with mail, showers, laundry, hygiene products and other essentials
  • Supporting daily lunch service
  • Observing guests’ needs and connect them to additional COTS or community resources
  • Work with community partners, including BPD and Howard Center, to support guests holistically


QULIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in customer service or working with the public
  • Interest in (or experience with) human services, social work, or nonprofit work
  • Ability to support individuals facing challenges related to mental health, substance use, and employment instability.
  • Experience with (or willingness to learn) deescalation and crisis management techniques
