Day Program Instructor- Eng/Sp Bilingual Jobs in Vallejo, CA at The Arc-Solano
The Arc-Solano is currently hiring a bilingual (English/Spanish) full-time Instructor at their site-based day program in Vallejo serving adults with developmental disabilities. We are looking for team members who are fun, creative, and love a challenge!
This is a behavioral management day program, and we work with Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to teach our participants to be respectful, responsible, and safe on-site and in the community. You will develop lessons in community access and integration, self-esteem, anger management, and social skills, plus a range of other entertaining topics. In the community, you will lead teams in volunteering, socializing, and community exploration.
This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Our office is located in Vallejo and community outings will be generally limited to lower Solano County; however, you may occasionally drive throughout the greater Bay Area/Sacramento region. You will use your own car for community outings as we reimburse you for mileage during work hours.
Essential duties include:
- Implement Individual Support Plans that meet agency guidelines and accurately reflect consumers’ needs.
- Develop and implement facility- and community-based lesson plans that encourage and enable skill acquisition as indicated in Individual Service Plans.
- Track and document behaviors with high fidelity
- Advocate for the best possible solutions to problems that your consumers may face and assist them with self-advocacy.
- Provide transportation for consumers to and from community and facility-based activities and instruction.
- Closely adhere to the schedule developed for instructors and consumers.
- Learn and be responsible for individual personnel responsibilities and concurrent deadlines required of all agency personnel (i.e., timecards, mileage sheets, use of benefits, etc.).
- Learn and be responsible for individual responsibilities for reporting documentation related to consumers, including content and deadlines.
- Coordinate work assignments as needed with the individual consumers and other instructors’ schedules.
- Keep the supervisor informed about the status of all ongoing assignments, projects, deadlines met, and responsibilities/assignments carried out.
- Other assigned duties from the Arc-Solano management team, including but not limited to assisting with other Arc-Solano programs.
Qualifications :
- At least 18 years old
- At least 1-year experience working with people with developmental disabilities or other special needs populations
- Solid, verifiable work history (3 references)
- Must have excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work effectively both as a team and independently.
- Current and valid CDL
- Must have a reliable vehicle that can hold three passengers, auto insurance, and be willing to DRIVE YOUR OWN CAR (mileage reimbursement offered).
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check. You will be fingerprinted.
