Under direct supervision, works and communicates with the general public, internal customers and/or external customers to provide information and services targeted to meet customer expectations.

All District 4 Public Health, County BOH employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Distribution site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Job Responsibilities

Provides quality customer service to all customers.
Answers inbound calls in a timely manner.
Receives and responds to customer phone calls, emails, letters, and faxes.
Directs inquiries to other individuals, departments, and agencies as appropriate.
Assists customers with regulations, policies, and procedures.
Handle all client inquiries.
Enters new client information into the system.
Updates existing client information.
Supports new program initiatives.
Able to adapt to changing policy and procedures.
Must abide by strict confidentiality requirements and all HIPPA guidelines.
Must be an active listener with strong phone and verbal communication skills.
Position requires employee to be detailed oriented; must be able to work efficiently and independently.
Self-starter. Fast paced work environment. Ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively.
Candidate must be organized.

Minimum Qualifications

Customer Service Representative 1:
High school diploma or GED AND six months of related experience handling customers’ questions, complaints and/or providing information.

Note: Candidates with qualifying Public Health experience will be brought in at the position level corresponding with their years of service.

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications:

Public Health experience
Computer experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data entry, etc.)
Must demonstrate excellent customer service and oral communication skills, to effectively interact with all levels of departmental personnel and outside customers
Work requires ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously
