Huronia Transition Homes is a non-profit organization working to end all violence against all women. We operate 4 primary programs, including La Maison Rosewood Shelter, a woman-centered organization that provides support to women who are fleeing violence or are experiencing homelessness. We are committed to providing our services within an intersectional feminist and harm reduction integrated environment.
La Maison Rosewood Shelter (a program of Huronia Transition Homes) is currently hiring a temporary full-time Crisis Counsellor. This position works rotating shifts of 12.5 hours, with both day and night shifts required. Please note, this is a 12-month contract position with the possibility of extension.
Minimum Requirements:
Post-secondaryeducationin a relevant discipline and/or equivalent life/work experience;
Knowledge of issues contained within the violence against women framework;
Experience working with women ofdiversebackgrounds, perspectives, socio-economic, and linguistic needs;
Ability to provide immediate and responsive crisis counselling in person and by telephone to women experiencing abuse;
Ability to provide information, support, practical assistance, safety planning, resources, referrals, andadvocacyfor women as needed;
Strongproblem-solvingandconflict resolutionskills;
Strong interpersonal, organizational, andcommunication skills;
Ability to work independently and participate as a team member;
Communication skillsin French or another language would be an asset.
