Job Title:Coordinator Volunteer Services – PRN (As Needed) – DC (2500001M)

Description:Children’s National is seeking aninnovativechange-agent in the Volunteer Services department to coordinate the supervision, recruitment, and retention efforts of our organization-wide volunteer services initiative. The Coordinator Volunteer Service will be responsible for recruiting, orienting, training, and managing Children’s National volunteers. Responsibilities include fostering community support, overseeing donations, and coordinating hospital tours, patient activities, and special events. The Coordinator will ensure compliance with all Joint Commission standards and Children’s National policies and maintain an effective volunteer database for ongoingcommunicationand statistics for the annual report.

The Coordinator will implement strategic plans through the management of operations of the department/service area, troubleshoot operational issues, and develop action plans to resolve them.

Qualifications:

MinimumEducation:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, Public Administration, or related field (Required).

Minimum

Work Experience:
3 years related and progressive experience, preferably in a health care environment or volunteer management (Required).
2 years Supervisory experience (Required).

Required Skills/Knowledge:
Demonstrate a high priority on serving volunteers in a timely and courteous manner.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Spanish speaking preferred.
Excellentcommunication,problem-solving, training facilitation, customer service, presentation, and organizational skills required.
Ability to work comfortably with internal and external customers fromdiversesocial, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
Demonstratedproject management, coaching, and coordination skills.
Ability to identify and work collaboratively withdiverseteams.
Ability to listen, be empathetic, motivate, and follow through on tasks.
Flexibilityand ability to work on weekends and off-hour shifts.

Functional Accountabilities:

Administrative Support

Plan and facilitate annual award ceremony to recognize individual volunteer accomplishments.

Maintain office supplies, equipment, and reference manuals.

Ensure volunteer database is keptup-to-datefor ongoingcommunicationand statistics for the annual report.

Act as back-up when volunteer staff are on leave.

Volunteer Retention

Collaborate with volunteers to find solutions to increase satisfaction and commitment.

Design a volunteer satisfaction survey and ensure suggestions are implemented.

Create volunteer-run group events and activities.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships between staff and volunteers.

Communicate needs of volunteers to staff and vice versa.

Oversee Volunteer Services

Oversee volunteer recruitment efforts within the community; respond timely to requests to volunteer.

Design, facilitate, and implement changes in volunteer training courses; set annual training calendar.

Ensure volunteer competencies in universal precautions, safety, and age-specific competencies.

Ensure compliance with mandatory annual medical requirements and Joint Commission requirements.

Monitor, evaluate, and document individual volunteer performance.

Implement strategic plans through management of operations of department/service area.
