Job Description
The Homestead Addiction Services Virtual Community Treatment Program provides addiction counselling and relapse prevention strategies to adults in Ontario through process groups, life skills classes, and individual counselling. The counsellor networks with community organizations for referrals.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Build rapport with Ontario residents in addiction recovery or seeking outpatient treatment.
Possess awareness and experience with concurrent disorders, marginalized populations, and spiritual issues in recovery.
Provide trauma-informed services and navigate technology effectively for virtual groups.
Create engaging, interactive group materials and presentations.
Conduct effective one-on-one counselling, support groups, and outreach services.
Support relapse prevention and recovery goal setting.
Refer clients to community support services as needed.
Maintain accurate client documentation and participate in team meetings.
Engage in community networking and discharge planning.
Report to the Program Coordinator, Addictions Outreach.
Minimum Education
al and Experience Requirements
Completed an undergraduate degree (e.g., BA, BSc, BScN, BSW) or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in addiction/mental health with marginalized clients.
Membership in CACCF and a professional college (e.g., Registered Social Worker).
Training in First Aid/CPR, crisis management, client assessment, and discharge planning.
Physical and
Work Environment
Includes keyboarding, walking, climbing stairs, and handling hazardous situations such as dealing with angry individuals, exposure to substances, and infectious diseases. Work may occur in office or residential settings, with potential exposure to hazards requiring safety precautions.
