Reporting to the Satellite Offices Manager, the Community Service Worker will mainly assist the Satellite Offices Manager in building community capacity for newcomers in the region.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist the Satellite Offices Manager in planning, developing, and implementing various cultural and recreational activities, projects, and programming to support newcomer integration
Assist with the development of marketing/promotional materials, such as informational/promotional brochures in hard copy, digital, electronic, and social media formats
Assist in coordinating events and presentations to create awareness of programming designed to support newcomers
Maintaining regular and open communication with program team members and all other co-workers
Qualifications and
Experience:
Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with diverse clients
Efficient communication skills in English (written and verbal)
Ability to speak a second language is an asset
Experience working with newcomer populations is an asset
Conditions of Employment:
Hold a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and have legal authorization to work in Canada
Be between 15 – 30 years of age at the start of employment
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm)
Must have own means of transportation
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RCMP
