THE ROLE: The PT (15 hours a week) Community Outreach Coordinator for Peer Elders assists case managers in connecting with the refugee community to recruit and maintain contact with the refugee elder community living in Clark County, Washington. In this role, you will work as a liaison between LCSNW and the refugee elder community – assisting in planning, coordination, and outreach for weekly Elder Support Groups as well as various events and field trips as needed. This position is temporary and will end in September of 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct outreach within the refugee community of Clark County including word of mouth, flyers, public speaking (such as at church services at Slavic Congregations).
Assist the assigned case manager in planning and coordinating various elder events – especially the weekly elder group.
Planning events would include informally polling friends and church members about topics of interest for the elder groups, discussing and brainstorming ideas with the case manager.
Coordinating would include assisting the case manager to handle logistics, food, and other details of the events.
Attend and publicize weekly conversation groups.
Assist the case manager in outreach/reminder calls before the groups as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

Peer to the Elder Participants 60+
Must be fluent in speaking and writing in Russian or Ukrainian, English language skills are helpful but not required.
Have connections with the refugee community in Clark County – whether formal or informal
Must be able to maintain confidentiality
Demonstrates exceptional commitment to serving and advocating for diverse and marginalized populations
Works in a variety of settings, including and not limited to LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community-based settings, and faith-based settings such as churches
Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job-relevant clearances as required by the State or program
