Position: Community Outreach and Employment Manager
Overview
AARP Foundation serves 39 million older adults living in poverty or one life event away from slipping into it. The Community Outreach and Employment Manager supervises 4-8 office staff and administers programs serving an average of 100 participants daily and 180 participants annually in a defined geographical region, ensuring interactions are non‑discriminatory and comply with employment law and AARP policies.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement assigned projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish a presence in targeted communities by engaging multicultural audiences, developing community partnerships, building volunteer capacity, and designing and executing engaging community programs and events.
- Develop and manage relationships with third‑party contacts including program participants, vendors, partner organizations, and others.
- Align volunteer and partner interests with organizational priorities, support volunteer/partner needs, and design opportunities to maximize volunteer engagement.
- Use and analyze data (program, financial, research, etc.) to recommend program and process improvements and monitor impact; prepare data and reports to stakeholders.
- Execute on business/program operations tasks such as research, report writing, and creating presentations.
- Contribute to tracking and reporting of strategic plan strategies and action plans; assist in developing and implementing new solutions.
- Assist with management of program budgets and assets.
Qualifications
- High School diploma / GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible management experience, including at least 1 year of staff supervision and 2 years of budget management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience working in an environment with complex administrative or regulatory procedures.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, data entry, pulling reports from databases, and using contemporary software packages; basic to intermediate computer/technical troubleshooting.
- Must be willing to travel within the assigned geographical area.
