ROLDA USA is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit initially created to rescuing, rehabilitating, and protecting vulnerable animals in Romania and currently also focusing on vulnerable animals affected by natural and human made disasters. For more than two decades, ROLDA has provided practical, humane solutions to reduce suffering while building long-term community change. As our U.S. presence grows, we are seeking a community-focused professional to help expand local engagement and fundraising efforts.

Location: United States (ideally: Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware).

Position Type: Independent Contractor, Part-Time (approximately 20 hours per week)

Reports To: CEO and Operations assistant for day to day oversight

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support community-based fundraising events.
  • Lead and support third-party fundraising initiatives.
  • Represent ROLDA at local events and outreach opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage community engagement initiatives or event-based programs.
  • Help build and support volunteer engagement in assigned states.
  • Collaborate with media contacts to promote local activities and campaigns.
  • Comfortable representing the organization independently in public-facing settings.
  • Travel within designated coverage areas as needed.

Coverage Areas:

Major metropolitan areas with active animal welfare and community event opportunities (e.g., New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia). Candidates should be based in or near one of these regions.

Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, event planning, community outreach, or related fields.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote contractor environment.
  • Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple small projects.
  • Willingness to attend in-person events in assigned states.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Basic design skills (Canva, presentations, PDF creation).
  • Experience working with media or drafting press outreach.
  • Familiarity with animal welfare or mission-driven organizations.

Compensation

This is a part-time independent contractor position (approximately 20 hours per week to start).

Compensation $30 per hour, commensurate with experience.
