Purpose of the Job

To research, develop, organize and implement prevention, outreach and awareness programmes for the community and social services beneficiaries in order to enhance functioning and psychosocial needs of individuals, children, families, community groups and staff enrichment.

Role and Responsibilities Community Work

  • Establish and implement relevant preventative, empowerment & psychosocial activities and programmes in collaboration with the social services team as is needed for the community social services beneficiaries
  • Establish and implement relevant preventative & psychosocial activities and programmes in collaboration with other Chev entities as is needed for the community at large e.g. volunteer coordination and programmes.
  • To identify trends and needs in the community, remain at the cutting edge and develop programmes accordingly.
  • Maintaining files and records appropriately
  • Compiling relevant presentations as necessary
  • Keep statistics and evaluation yardsticks of all programmes
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Finance on development of programmes and sustainability
  • Maintain and grow current community development projects, namely, ICE, schools programmes, abuse prevention, pro bono legal programme, volunteer programmes, enrich programmes, outreach programmes, educator forums and other evolving programmes.

Marriage Preparation Programme

  • The recruitment, training, supervision and continuous upskilling of volunteer counsellors in the Prepare/Enrich Programme and other marriage preparation and enrichment tools
  • Liaison and meetings with supervisors
  • Networking and relationship-building with Rabbi’s, Shul committees, and stakeholders
  • Promoting and motivating for the use of the programme in the community
  • Allocating counsellors to the couples
  • Conducting follow-ups with couples, managing complaints and providing necessary support to counsellors
  • Conducting supervision of the volunteer counsellors
  • Ensuring highest levels of service delivery in all areas of the programme
  • Maintaining updated records and spreadsheets of bookings, allocations, and admin‑related tasks

Education

  • Sharing of knowledge in order to further the development of staff, volunteers, students and members of the public
  • Providing public education on community psychosocial related matters
  • Speaking at, writing articles for, arranging, and/or participating in seminars and conferences as appropriate

Professional development / Functioning

  • Maintaining and developing appropriate professional qualifications, skills, knowledge related to field of work
  • Furthering own professional development by making use of internal and external development opportunities
  • Demonstrating insight and experience in initiating and sustaining community projects
  • Attending regular supervision meetings
  • Attending conferences, lectures and workshops
  • Attending group and/or individual consultation with appointed consultants

Research

  • Developing knowledge and skill pertaining to all areas of work
  • Participating in agency research as well as networking internally and externally
  • Initiating and completing other research that is beneficial to the organization
  • Sourcing of relevant literature and information
  • Ensuring CPD points are obtained for all upskilling and training programmes

Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team

  • Facilitating a collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationship with the multidisciplinary team
  • Liaising and arranging meetings with relevant stakeholders

Liaison with external affiliates / organizations

  • Facilitating a collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationship with affiliates and external organizations in the best interest of the community (and to minimize duplication of services)

Ad hoc tasks / Administration

  • Ensuring all information regarding clients, groups, and other projects are appropriately maintained
  • Maintaining of records and statistics
  • Attending and participation in staff meetings and any other relevant meetings
  • Writing relevant reports as appropriate
  • Liaising with and reporting to the relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing feedback to relevant teams when required

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • Social Work or affiliated helping professionals
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle a must

  • Experience in project management and programme development and implementation
  • Knowledge of Jewish Culture and Community
  • Excel, Word, PowerPoint proficiency
  • Training and Presentation skills
  • Confidence, assertiveness and high energy levels
