CASUAL POSITION

About this opportunity:
Assists in facilitating and monitoring Community center recreational activities both on and off of Salvation Army property; supervises and coaches sporting events; assists in maintaining the Community Center facilities, equipment, and grounds, develops communication pieces for mission projects.

Key responsibilities:

Opens/closes the Community Center in compliance with established operating hours; ensures the center is properly secured during non-operating hours.
Prepares and maintains a schedule of Community Center and outreach activities in an accurate and timely manner.
Supervises patrons visiting the Community Center and participating in programs; ensures that patron’s behavior remains consistent with center rules and regulations.
Supervises and coach football, basketball, and baseball games; leads and motivates players to exhibit good sportsmanship.
Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Community center facilities and grounds; maintains ball fields; mows and trims grass; trims trees and shrubs; rakes, loads, and hauls leaves and pine-straw.
Reports any injuries to the supervisor immediately and instructs the injured party to complete an incident report.
Runs Community Center programs at apartment complexes.
Promotes and communicates stories regarding meeting community needs and spreading the gospel.
Completes and submits monthly statistics from in an accurate and timely manner.
Assist with clerical duties i.e. preparing reports, filing non-confidential files

What we are looking for in you:

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School diploma or GED
CPR and First Aid Certification
Two (2) years’ experience teaching child development programs in a church or educational setting
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; Ability to perform various yard work including raking, loading, and hauling grass, leaves, pine straw, dirt, etc.; Ability to operate yard maintenance equipment. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis;
