AGENCY OVERVIEW

Guardian is the communications agency for faith-driven and mission-first organizations, including national ministries, churches, schools, nonprofits, networks and the leaders behind them. Our 14-person team serves more than 30 clients.

Our approach is human-centric and AI-powered: seven human channels create each client’s signal, AI Discovery carries it to the AI engines audiences and a custom intelligence layer powers the work behind the scenes. We make those doing good known and trusted.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This person will serve on select client accounts, support an account team lead, and provide full-service communications counsel and functions, including:

  • Brand Strategy: Support brand audits, stakeholder interviews and audience surveys, and help develop positioning, build messaging frameworks with core messages tailored to each segment and develop strategic plans.
  • Strategic Counsel: Contribute to reputation audits and pressure testing of planned announcements by researching stakeholder perceptions, narrative trends and reputational risk.
  • Earned Media: Write press releases, pitches, press kits, fact sheets and bios, execute targeted outreach to faith-based and secular reporters and track placements against goals.
  • Influencer Marketing: Identify and vet creators for values alignment, manage outreach, content approval and monitoring, and report performance with recommendations for the next campaign.
  • Crisis Comms: Support vulnerability assessments and trainings, draft issue-specific talking points and response templates, and run real-time monitoring across traditional and social media during active response.
  • Leader Platforms: Draft thought leadership pieces, op-eds and newsletter content, place guest columns and support social presence that builds each leader's owned audience.
  • Live Events: Manage media advisories, press credentialing and on-site press coordination while supporting run-of-show logistics, advanced planning, speaker prep and guest communications.
  • Staff Activation: Audit internal channels for gaps, produce staff newsletters and internal campaign materials, and support ambassador training that equips employees to speak publicly.
  • Succession Planning: Draft stakeholder messaging for staff, boards and donors, prepare biographical and tribute materials, and support transition narratives from announcement through installation.
  • AI Discovery (GEO): Conduct keyword research, analyze how clients appear in AI-generated answers and optimize content to be surfaced and cited by ChatGPT, Claude and Google's AI Overviews.
  • Custom Intelligence Layer: Work daily inside Guardian's internal AI infrastructure, using it to accelerate research, analysis, drafting, monitoring, editing and reporting while reserving judgment, strategy and storytelling for the human touch.
  • Performance Tracking: Measure the impact of every channel we activate, analyze and translate the results into clear, client-ready reporting and recommend where the strategy should improve.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three or more years of experience in agency, corporate or nonprofit public relations, communications, journalism or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, digital, communications or journalism strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of the Christian market niche in the United States and an interest in advancing their brands
  • Proficiency using Claude and other AI tools for brainstorming, research, analysis, editing, brainstorming, campaign optimization and analytics
  • Knowledge of influencer marketing, including sourcing, negotiating and managing creator partnerships
  • Strong understanding of social and digital trends, with a keen eye for identifying opportunities for clients
  • Ability to track, interpret and report on performance metrics
  • Creative, tech-savvy mindset with curiosity to test new platforms and tools
  • Proven record of smart thinking, strong work ethic and a proactive, growth-oriented mindset
  • Skilled in communications strategy and planning, with the ability to manage multiple projects from conception to completion
  • Exceptional writer and communicator across news, social, promotional and editorial formats, with solid understanding of media needs and social platforms
  • Command of AP style
  • First principles thinker
  • Proficiency with media monitoring platforms such as Meltwater; familiarity with Trello, Slack, Canva, Microsoft, MacOS and Google Workspace.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial problem-solver with sound judgment, maturity and a collaborative, flexible spirit
  • Self-starter who can work independently and also thrives in team settings

PARTICULARS

  • There will be some travel associated with this position (up to 25%).
  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

  • Position is based in Atlanta, but will be remote from home.
