Through our Crescent City Farmers Markets, community nutrition education, and food access programs like Market Match and Market Mommas Club, we’re passionate about growing health, culture, and opportunity. As we gear up for our 30th anniversary, we’re searching for a Communications Specialist who’s excited to tell the story of our work—and help shape what comes next.
About the Role
This is your chance to blend creativity and mission. You’ll take the lead on telling our story across digital platforms, media, and internal communications—working closely with leadership and across departments to uplift the voices, programs, and purpose of Market Umbrella.
You’ll:
✔ Create content for newsletters, social media, and press releases
✔ Design flyers, visuals, and brand-aligned outreach materials
✔ Keep our website and comms tools fresh and up-to-date
✔ Support media relations and joint outreach with community partners
✔ Be the creative glue across departments, campaigns, and special projects
You Might Be Our Person If You:
Have experience in communications, marketing, PR—or just telling great stories
Know your way around Canva, Squarespace, Constant Contact, and social platforms
Thrive in collaborative spaces but can run with a task solo
Love the idea of working outdoors now and then at our markets
Bring strong writing chops, a DEAI lens, and a passion for community health
