About TWA
The Texas Water Association is a nonprofit association dedicated to sound water policy for Texas. For more than 80 years, the Association has worked to address the state’s greatest water policy needs, from drought to flood and everything in between. Our mission is to educate members and policymakers, build consensus among members on pressing policy issues, and advocate on consensus water positions at the state and federal level.Â
TWA members provide water and wastewater services to a vast majority of the state and include river authorities, cities, regional and local water districts, drainage and flood districts, irrigation districts, groundwater conservation districts, water users and other stakeholders, and those who support the Texas water industry. TWA has more than 400 organizational members and 2,500 participating individuals.Â

About the Communications Manager
This full-time staff person works closely with TWA staff to manage internal and external communications for the Association, including writing and creating print materials and e-newsletters, website maintenance and design, and social media management. The ideal candidate is creative and technical with expertise and interest in graphic design and written communications. The role requires strong support of TWA’s conference and policy efforts, including travel to three conferences each year, and an ability to connect with TWA members. This position is based in Austin.Â
Essential Functions
Create and manage TWA marketing and print materials
Oversee the development and distribution of a monthly e-newsletter
Develop and implement communications plan and oversee TWA branding efforts
Maintain, update, and add content to website Â
Create social media content and manage the Association’s social media calendar
Draft and edit membership and policy-based written documents and presentations
Assist with planning and executing TWA conferences, as necessary
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
Two years of experience in print and digital communicationsÂ
Technologically savvy: competency with graphic design platform(s), social media, web design/content management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and more
Experience utilizing social media platforms
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and balance competing priorities
Ability to take initiative and think strategically while exhibiting a high level of professionalism
Desire to work as part of a close team and connect with TWA members; ability to work independently as needed
Interest in engaging with members and learning about the water industry
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with associations or association workÂ
Familiarity with conference-based communications
Knowledge of Texas water issues
Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000+ annually, depending on experience, responsibilities, and qualifications. TWA also provides a stipend for health insurance and excellent retirement benefits after vesting. TWA is currently working a flexible hybrid schedule, and remote work is possible, though the role is based out of the Austin area.
