We’re looking for a creative, motivated, and energetic intern eager to learn the ins and outs of consulting while supporting strategic communications, marketing, and client engagement initiatives.

This paid internship offers hands-on experience working on meaningful internal and external communications projects in a collaborative, hybrid environment based in Charleston, SC. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of clients, gain exposure to different industries and missions, and contribute ideas that truly make a difference.

About The Role

Hybrid: 75% remote, 25% in-person – Charleston, South Carolina

  • Flexible scheduling and hours based on academic and personal commitments.
  • Opportunity for professional mentorship and portfolio-building experience.

Compensation: $17–$20 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • This position is classified as an independent contractor role (1099) and is not eligible for employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with drafting and editing communications materials including newsletters, press releases, blog posts, social media content, and client updates
  • Visit client sites and film/shoot content
  • Support communications strategy development and campaign planning
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitors, media opportunities, and audience engagement
  • Help coordinate meetings, presentations, and communications deliverables
  • Collaborate with team members on marketing and branding initiatives
  • Monitor social media engagement and assist with content scheduling
  • Provide administrative and project support as needed

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms
  • Experience with Canva, Buffer, Adobe Creative Suite, or content management tools
  • Motivated self-starter who thrives in collaborative environments
