ROLE SUMMARY
The Communications & Donor Relations Leadwill develop and execute GEM’s
communication
strategy, including internal and external communications to all partners and stakeholders. Reporting into the Fundraising area, they will be responsible for creating content across all platforms to help strengthen the
recognition
of GEM and its programs and to build and enhance strong, supportive relationships with donors, volunteers, mentors and GEM alumni.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Develop a yearly advertising, communications and marketing plan and budget for approval
Manage and maintain communications calendar, including but not limited to, quarterly donor/volunteer newsletter, social media posts, other donor communications as needed
Create, edit, and maintain high-quality communications through the website, email newsletters, social media, and media campaigns including outcome reports for all key initiatives
Update, engage and otherwise monitor all social media, including preparation of monthly reports to track audience engagement
Execute enhancements and updates to the website as needed
Propose, research, solicit (from GEM colleagues/external experts) and draft content for use in various channels
Work with the program team to coordinate the required communications for GEM events as needed
Manage all printing requirements for GEM events and activities
Ensure that photographs and video content creation as required for special events, engaging and coordinating with photographers and videographers as needed
Write and execute any press releases needed
Develop donor segmentation strategies to tailor communications and engagement efforts
Ensure all donor records, interactions, and transactions are accurately tracked in donor management systems
Support development of donor and fundraising materials, including case for support, impact report etc.
Support execution of fundraising and donor engagement events
Manage brand and identity for compliance with brand guidelines
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or similar field
Minimum of three years’ experience in a communications or related field ideally with a focus on the not-for-profit sector
Highly skilled writer, editor, and proofreader who can adapt to various audiences.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, and strong attention to detail
Ability to execute internal and external communications strategies
Ability to prioritize and multi-task while working on multiple projects at any given time
Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team
Ability to think and work creatively and foster a creative environment
Tech-savvy with a keen understanding of digital media
Ability to create engaging and shareable content for social media, customizing appropriately to each channel
High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Word Press and email newsletter platforms e.g. Mail Chimp
Experience with donor relations/donor experience and stewardship
Expertise in creating and supporting strategic marketing and outreach materials that advance fundraising goals
Experience with media relations is an asset
Graphic design, video editing, and website skills are an asset
Experience with Blackbaud eTapestry CRM is an asset
