Communications Coordinator (Nonprofit)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Communications Coordinator to support and enhance our organization's internal and external communications. This role requires prior nonprofit experience, with a strong understanding of philanthropy, community impact, and donor-focused messaging. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, highly organized, and passionate about telling meaningful stories that align with our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and edit content for newsletters, donor communications, website, and social media
  • Support communications strategies that highlight organizational impact and philanthropic initiatives
  • Manage and maintain digital content across platforms, including website and intranet
  • Coordinate and schedule social media posts; monitor engagement and recommend improvements
  • Assist with donor-facing materials, press releases, and event communications
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather program updates and translate them into compelling messaging
  • Ensure brand consistency and alignment with organizational voice and mission
  • Track engagement metrics and prepare reports on communications effectiveness

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a nonprofit, foundation, or philanthropic organization (required)
  • Proven experience creating content for mission-driven initiatives
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with donor communications and storytelling
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint)
  • Knowledge of CRM systems such as Salesforce
  • Experience managing social media platforms and content calendars

Work Environment

  • Hybrid schedule (2 days in office)
  • Standard business hours, Monday-Friday
