Position Summary/ Department Summary:
The Clinical Research Assistant (CRA) will play a primary role in collecting data for the Translational Neuroscience Center’s Clinical Neurophysiology Research Core (CNRC). The CNRC seeks to understand neural network function among children with autism, other neurodevelopmental conditions, and typical development, primarily using electroencephalography (EEG) to do so.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruits and consents patients for research studies, explains protocols, and guides participants with neurodevelopmental conditions through all study phases while addressing concerns and resolving issues.
Evaluates participant eligibility, coordinates follow-up visits, and serves as the primary liaison between families and research teams at on-site and off-site locations.
Oversees data collection tasks including EEG setup and maintenance, data uploading, organization, and collection from diverse populations with neurodevelopmental conditions.
Collaborates on study protocol development, prepares documentation for IRB/CCI submission, and generates statistical reports, summaries, and manuscripts for publication.
Trains new research assistants, ensures lab coordination and adherence to study protocols, and monitors data entry and informed consent procedures for consistency and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, or related field.
Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, or a related field.
Previous experience with children with autism spectrum disorder or other neurodevelopmental disorders.
Availability for flexible scheduling, including occasional evenings and weekends to facilitate visits with school-aged children.
High level of motivation; ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Previous experience working in a research setting (preferably paid professional experience, but may include undergraduate research experience).
Ability to assist with grant preparation, publications, presentations and/or applications to an Institutional Review Board.
