Contract:

Permanent part time to work 2.5 days or three days or hours spreed over four days you chose as long as 21 hours per week is worked

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Climate Care Planner to

and lead vital initiatives focused on tackling climate change, enhancing biodiversity, and promoting

sustainable practices

within our community.

Key Responsibilities

Lead on climate and nature-based projects and initiatives across the Town Council’s operations, open spaces, and buildings.

Provide full clerking support to the Climate Committee, including preparing agendas in consultation with the Chair, drafting officer reports, distributing papers, attending meetings, writing minutes, and implementing resolutions.

Ensure the effective delivery of the Local Nature Action Plan, including tracking progress, identifying new actions, and reporting to the Climate & Nature Committee and senior officers.

Support the development of sustainable policies and initiatives to promote biodiversity, climate

resilience

, and

sustainability

.

Advise and support council staff and officers on climate-related projects and environmental considerations.

Plan and deliver

community engagement

activities and volunteer events related to climate and biodiversity, helping to grow local involvement.

Support the council’s work on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) by advising on implementation in land management, planning responses, and community-led projects.

Coordinate and help deliver revised grounds maintenance regimes, including tree and hedge planting initiatives. Maintain accurate records of planting activities.

Collect and analyse data to assess the performance and outcomes of environmental projects and council-wide climate actions.

Work alongside the Communications & Engagement Officer to produce climate-related communications, including social media content, posters, and press releases.

Monitor climate-related budgets, assist with financial reporting, and contribute to the preparation of the annual budget.

Research and apply for grant funding to support climate and nature initiatives.

Conduct risk assessments for all relevant activities, ensuring health and safety is embedded in all council-led environmental work.

Provide customer service support as required.

Carry out additional duties as may be reasonably requested, in line with the role.
