Cindependent is Cincinnati’s nonprofit home for independent film.
Through the Cindependent Film Festival, year-round artist development, educational programs, and stewardship of the historic Mariemont Theatre, we bring people together through stories that inspire curiosity, empathy, and conversation.

Position Summary
Hosts are the face of the Mariemont Theatre.
Whether greeting guests, popping fresh popcorn, checking tickets, helping someone find the perfect movie, or preparing the theatre for a sold-out premiere, Hosts create memorable experiences that keep people coming back.
This is more than a customer service position. Hosts help build a welcoming community where movie lovers of all ages can gather, discover new stories, and connect with one another.
No previous theatre experience is required—we’ll teach you everything you need to know. What matters most is kindness, reliability, and a genuine desire to help people.
Responsibilities
- Welcome every guest with warmth and enthusiasm.
- Sell tickets, memberships, concessions, and merchandise.
- Prepare food and beverages while maintaining high food safety standards.
- Keep the lobby, auditoriums, restrooms, and outdoor spaces clean and inviting.
- Assist guests with seating, accessibility needs, and general questions.
- Help prepare for premieres, filmmaker events, private rentals, and community programs.
- Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Restock concessions and retail inventory throughout each shift.
- Monitor auditoriums to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable moviegoing experience.
- Work collaboratively with fellow Hosts and theatre leadership.
- Represent Cindependent’s mission by creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels they belong.
Qualifications
We’re looking for people who enjoy working with others and take pride in creating exceptional guest experiences.
Required
- Friendly, outgoing, and dependable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- At least 16 years old.
Preferred
- Previous experience in hospitality, food service, retail, entertainment, or customer service.
- Cash handling or point-of-sale experience.
- Interest in film, arts, or community events.
- ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain if assigned food preparation duties).
