Step By Step, Inc. is a Christ-centered, nonprofit ministry that provides resources and guidance to young single mothers. We exist to improve the lives of young single mothers and their children through healing, encouragement, faith and education. The position of Children’s Ministry Coordinator is a part-time (no more than 20 hours per week) hourly position and reports directly to the Program Director.
Compensation is $20 per hour.
Position Description
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator is responsible for the management and implementation of all children’s programming and events. This includes planning children’s activity, maintaining curriculum, and assisting in training volunteers. This individual will maintain a high level of safety and communication with parents, volunteers, and staff.
Characteristic Duties
Children’s Program Responsibilities
Review and maintain children’s curriculum for weekly meetings, including craft and lesson materials.
Set up childcare notebooks and signs prior to each large group meeting.
Provide volunteer management, room maintenance, and maintain children’s safety policy and procedures during program events.
Maintain communication with mothers regarding child’s program progress, as well as special needs or concerns.
Write and send birthday cards to SBS kids
Follow SBS policies and procedures for safety and liability.
Encourage and manage children’s ministry volunteers during program nights.
Administration & Volunteer Management
Attend weekly staff prayer and planning meeting
Assist with special projects and events as needed
Maintain appropriate documentation. Maintain organized and updated client and volunteer communication. Maintain Salesforce database.
Maintain documents as needed.
Train Revive Kids volunteers in care and safety policy and procedures.
Maintain correspondence with Revive Kids volunteers, including regular follow up and appreciation such as writing birthday cards and thank you notes.
Candidate Qualifications
Must be high energy, a self-starter, with an intense love and compassion for the population served through the ministry of Step By Step
Flexibility and ability to work well in a team and independently
Ability to communicate well and with sensitivity to a diverse cultural population
Public speaking/teaching skills
Must be friendly and have the ability to motivate others
Committed to personal spiritual growth by participating in the following:
Active participation in community with other believers
Consistent Bible reading
Prayer and spending time alone with God
Maintain appropriate social media presence refraining from lewd or inappropriate content
Adhere to the SBS Statement of Faith
Be able to provide non-judgmental support to SBS moms and kids coming from different faiths, beliefs, lifestyles, and life experiences, which can include trauma
2+ years of related experience or education
Basic computer skills required
Provide 2 personal references including 1 spiritual reference
Background check required
