Hourly Rate:$17.20 – $20.08

Department:Family and Community Services

Reporting to:Rochester Heights Community House Coordinator

Type:Casual. 15.00 hours per week, 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Benefits:4% in Lieu of vacation

Position start date:As soon as possible

Job Summary

The Child and Youth Worker will facilitate community-based child and youth programs. The Child and Youth Worker will provide educational services, support andadvocacy, and participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of age and culturally appropriate programs to help meet the needs of children, youth, and their families using a capacity building and healthpromotionframework.

Job Specific Responsibilities

Direct service with children 6-12 years at an After School Program

Plans programs that enhance cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development

Implement, monitor, and evaluate community-based programs, providing required stats to Child and Youth Community Developer and entering groups information into database

Provide updates and contact with parents when necessary

Monitor and maintain/purchase adequate supplies and equipment for programming

Ensure all programsafety measuresare being met

Works closely with and support program staff, volunteers, and student placements

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years experience in child and youth work

Criminal Reference check for working with vulnerable populations

Current CPR level C, First Aid and Food Handlers Certification

Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job

Working knowledge and use of major computer programs

Strong knowledge of child development and behaviour guidance techniques

Effective at communicating andproblem solving

Experience andflexibilityworking indiverse community-based programs with families facing multiple health risks and barriers
