Child and Youth Care Workers
in the following communities:
George
Bonnievale/Swellendam
Paarl/Mbekweni
About The Role
Child and Youth Care Workers will play an important role in offering social, emotional, and practical support to the youth enrolled in the YearBeyond programme. They will help identify community partners and service providers to enhance support systems. Additionally, they will assist in addressing personal challenges, mental health concerns, and other barriers that may impact the youth’s ability to succeed in the programme.

Roles and Responsibilities
Work closely with YearBeyond staff and the Implementing Partner Organisation to ensure the youth on the programme receive the care and resources they need.
Conduct community asset mapping to identify local resources and support networks.
Provide YeBoneers with basic counselling and referral services to appropriate mental health, social, and community services.
Support the implementation of wellbeing and personal development activities by organising and facilitating relevant and engaging talks and workshops for YeBoneers.
Coach YearBeyond Alumni to support their transition into further opportunities and careers.
Qualifications And Requirements
A minimum of a matric certificate, and a relevant accredited qualification NQF level 5 or higher. Preference will be given to individuals with an accredited qualification in Child and Youth Care Work.
At least 5 years experience working with young people in community-based or youth support settings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and confidentiality.
Familiarity with mental health, social work, or youth development principles is a plus.
Knowledge of and living in one of the listed communities.
