About the Role
The Chief Program Officer will be responsible for providing strategic leadership across all aspects of program design, delivery, and success, guiding a multidisciplinary team to create impactful, scalable solutions that support whole-student development across a broad network of schools. Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a key member of the executive team, the CPO will set a bold long-term vision and ensure the execution of high-quality programs aligned with that vision.
This includes overseeing program delivery, research and design, and school success functions. The CPO will champion innovation and iteration, integrating learning science and partner feedback into program development while fostering cross-functional collaboration to enhance effectiveness. As a visible ambassador of the organization’s mission, the CPO will inspire stakeholders, cultivate strategic partnerships, and drive measurable outcomes for students and schools nationwide.
The ideal candidate will bring at least 12 years’ experience in education technology, program management, coaching or consulting, and/or school or district leadership, ideally within a national educational nonprofit or edtech organization. A minimum of 10 years’ people management experience is required, with at least 3 years of service at the executive level strongly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of driving improved student outcomes and an ability to lead from multiple perspectives, including strategic, operational, and relational.
Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with a deep commitment to whole-student development and equity. Proficiency in Google Workspace and a willingness to travel 30–40% of the time are also required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, and candidates must successfully pass a background check.
