The Chief Operating Officer (COO) for this public health non-profit organization serves as a strategic partner to the CEO, overseeing the day-to-day operations, infrastructure, financial performance, and key programs. The COO ensures operational excellence through the management of staff, budgets, grants, and organizational systems. They are responsible for developing and implementing processes that enhance efficiency, align with strategic objectives, and ensure the sustainability of the organization.
The COO works primarily remotely but attends in-person meetings as required in Salem MA, including executive team meetings, organizational gatherings, and events in Massachusetts and other New England states.

Strong operational, organizational, and strategic thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and oversee fiscal performance.
Experience in program management, particularly in gaming and public health related initiatives.
Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
Proficiency in grant writing, reporting, and compliance.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other operational tools.
Knowledge of HR best practices and financial management principles.
Supervisory Relationship
The COO directly supervises key operational roles, such as the Director of Operations, Director of Research Services, Administrative Team, and other departmental leads as assigned by the CEO.
Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
Partner with the CEO to develop and execute the organization’s strategic plan.
HR Strategy and Management
Oversee HR strategy, including employee engagement, performance management, and workforce planning.
Staff Supervision and Development
Supervise, mentor, and support key operational staff, ensuring professional growth and alignment with organizational goals.
Operations Management
Oversee the development and implementation of operational policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Partner Program Management
Provide oversight and strategic direction for a critical partner program to ensure it aligns with the organization’s mission and objectives.
Education and Experience
A master’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field preferred.
