Position: Full-time, Salaried
Location: Hybrid – 3 Days at Leadership Center, Tampa, FL; 2 days remote
POSITION OVERVIEW
Executive leadership role responsible for driving organizational growth and mission fulfillment through strategic integration of revenue-generating and visibility-enhancing departments. Oversees integrated marketing communications, retail operations, philanthropy, sponsored programs and partnerships to create a cohesive external presence and sustainable financial support. The CMAO serves as the primary architect of the organization’s public image and collaborative leader of diversifying the organization’s revenue growth strategy across an 8-county footprint with a baseline of 20,000+ members, volunteers, alumnae, donors and Lifetime Members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Strategic Leadership
Develop comprehensive communications strategies aligned with organizational mission, strategic plan and calendar
Serve on executive leadership team for organizational decision-making and senior leadership team for interdepartmental planning and execution
Create metrics and evaluation frameworks to measure impact across all areas of responsibility
Report regularly to Executive Team on initiatives and outcomes
Design systematic approach for effective interdepartmental collaboration on major initiatives to include fulfillment and reporting of sponsor benefits
Represent Girl Scouts of West Central Florida at the national level through GSUSA committees and projects
Integrated Marketing Communications
Lead brand strategy and messaging across all channels for internal and external stakeholders
Ensure consistent voice and visual identity across all organizational touchpoints
Direct digital strategy (website, social media, email marketing, advertising)
Manage public relations, media outreach, and crisis communications planning and response
Oversee creative services and production of council publications, collateral, and campaign materials
Train and utilize a team of 20+ Media Girls who support powerful storytelling
Manage relationships with external communications vendors (i.e., freelancers)
Contribute marketing/communications analytics and media impressions bi-monthly for Board Report.
Retail Revenue Growth
Support design of retail growth strategies
Foster interdepartmental collaboration to reinforce opportunities, such as programs and events, to drive retail growth
Guide new strategies for increased retail revenue contribution to overall financial sustainability
Philanthropic Stewardship & Engagement
Guide the design and implementation of comprehensive donor communications strategies that support individual and corporate giving goals and year-round engagement
Fuel the timeline and messaging for donor stewardship communications, events, impact report distribution, and other donor engagement opportunities
Deploy a systematic approach for fulfilling, tracking and reporting corporate sponsor deliverables
Oversee the production and promotion of major events and signature programs to include Women of Distinction, STEMapalooza, High Awards Ceremony, Girl Scout Fest and Annual Meeting
Develop innovative approaches to diversify revenue streams, such as troop/girl experience catalog for program partners and local cause marketing opportunities
Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and donor communications best practices

Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing staff and volunteers

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and progressive training required (i.e., public relations, communications, marketing, nonprofit management)
15+ years progressive leadership experience in communications, advancement, development, and marketing
Excellent writing and editing skills
Demonstrated success across multiple responsibility areas
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans across diverse departments
Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and diverse revenue streams
Excellent communication, crisis management, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
Strong analytical abilities and data-driven decision-making
Track record motivating teams of staff, volunteers, and community leaders
Passion for the Girl Scout mission
Additional Requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, design tools (Adobe Pro, Canva), and social/ad management systems; experience with CRM systems preferred (Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge)
Spanish language skills a plus
Availability for occasional evenings and weekends
Ability to interact with others virtually and in-person in various indoor and outdoor settings
