Overview: Acting as the principal legal advisor to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer and the executive team, the Chief Legal & Risk Officer is responsible for overseeing all legal matters affecting the American Cancer Society and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN). As a member of the executive team, the CLRO participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, practices, and procedures for the Organization to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, manage legal risks, and partner to provide trusted, strategic legal guidance.

Experience: At least 20+ years of broad legal experience as either in-house counsel or a combination of in-house and other relevant legal experience which includes experience with corporate governance matters, board relations, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will be mission-driven, consultative, and collaborative; an experienced, innovative leader who can motivate and inspire a team, partner effectively across functions and at all levels, and think strategically about how to manage risk in ways that still permit the business to grow and evolve. Healthcare, non-profit or other highly regulated industry experience is highly preferred.
Location: This is a fully remote position with expected 25% domestic travel.
Compensation: Compensation package commensurate with experience. The package includes base salary, target bonus, long term incentive, and other generous benefits.

The starting rate is $XX to $XX. The final candidate’s relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
