Position Overview
The purpose of the Cash Contributions Specialist I is to process all cash-related contributions and provide excellent customer service, including solving problems for our givers. This position processes contributions in the form of checks, wires, ACHs, credit cards and e-checks and deposits said contributions to the bank, as well as posts to donor advised funds. The Cash Contributions Specialist I also assists the Security Contributions Specialists as needed and assists with other details by exercising clear, articulate communication skills and self-governed accuracy.
As a result of the work performed by the Cash Contributions Specialist I, we are able to fulfill our charitable mission as a grant making organization by mobilizing resources and serving NCF givers in a timely manner with excellent customer service.
This position is hybrid based out of the office in Alpharetta, GA.

Management/Supervision: None
Duties & Responsibilities
Process all check contributions
Prepares and scans direct deposits to bank, identifies fund numbers and contributor identification numbers
Posts contributions to donor advised fund and issues receipts to donors
Processes returned checks
Process all physical cash and foreign check contributions
Takes deposits into bank, identifies fund numbers
Posts contributions to donor advised fund and issues receipts to donors
Process wire transfers and other electronic contributions
Processes fund to fund transfer requests
Verifies receipt of contribution, identifies fund numbers and contributor identification numbers
Posts contributions to donor advised fund and issues donor receipts
Processes declined e-contributions
Record all inquiries into the case management system
Follows-up and resolves Unknown Donor transactions
Follows-up on unfunded contribution notifications
Prints and mails all Contributor gift receipts
Responds to and researches inquiries from donors, financial advisors, brokers, and staff related to cash contributions and solves any problems or exceptional items in a timely manner
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Supports and promotes NCF’s mission, vision, values and goals
Assists in testing system functionality during upgrades and implementations
May be directed by the Contributions Manager to carry out special projects
Seeks opportunities to improve processes and systems to make contributions processing more efficient
Participates in team meetings to report departmental information and to work with other team members to solve problems
Acts as back-up to the Security Contribution Specialist as needed
Works closely with Accounting department to reconcile any discrepancies

Education
An Associate of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or other related field is required; Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree is ok
Preferred Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management
Experience
A minimum of one to two years related experience processing financial transactions is required
A minimum of one to two years of experience in a customer service-oriented environment is required
Knowledge Base
Some working knowledge of charitable, non-profit, foundation, and/or donor related subject matters
Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications
Proven aptitude for “real time” problem diagnosis and solving
Able to perform duties independently
