The Archdiocese of Chicago is looking for aCase Manager – Clinical Coordinatorto oversee and monitor services for the following offices under the Office for the Protection of Children and Youth: (1) Office for Child Abuse Investigations and Review and the Prayer and Penance Program and (2) the Office of Assistance Ministry.
The Office for Child Abuse Investigations and Review (CAIR) works to provide a compassionate and thorough process to receive and investigate reports of abuse against personnel of the Archdiocese of Chicago. CAIR staff receives, reviews, and investigates allegations of the sexual abuse of minors by clerics, lay employees, and volunteers of the Archdiocese of Chicago. In cases where the reported abuse took place outside of the Archdiocese of Chicago and/or by personnel not of the Archdiocese of Chicago, CAIR staff connects individuals reporting abuse with the appropriate public authority and/or entity.
The Prayer and Penance Program was established for priests withdrawn from ministry due to at least one substantiated allegation of sexual abuse of a minor. The program was initiated in 2008 by Francis Cardinal George to provide safety for the community, the program participants, and the Church. Withdrawn priests are expected to do penance for their sins, pray for victims/survivors of sexual abuse, and pray for the Church harmed by the actions of some priests.
The primarypurposeof the Prayer and Penance program is to prevent sexual abuse by the program participants and to protect the community from harm.
Responsibilities:
Case Manager
Manage and track allegations against religious men and women, lay employees, and volunteers, including notification of civil authorities when warranted,communicationwith appropriate archdiocesan offices and other entities, tracking the process of related investigations, reporting to the Lay Advisory Board, and notifying appropriate offices/other entities of the outcome of respective investigations and internal reviews.
Provide supervision and monitoring of priests assigned to the Archdiocese’s Prayer and Penance Program.
Develop systems of support for program participants.
Verify the accuracy of participants’ daily logs and travel requests.
Establishcommunicationwith therapists, sponsors, and members of the participants’ community support network.
Maintain ongoing, personalcommunicationwith the program participants to continually assess risk.
Develop and oversee the maintenance of participants’ Individual Specific Protocols.
Oversee clinical services for participants.
Document the compliance and non-compliance of program participants.
