Job Title: Case Manager
Job Type: Half – Time employee. Hybrid remote, office and client visits
Reports to: Family Support Manager
Compensation: $20,000-25,000 commensurate with experience
Job Overview: Building Peaceful Bridges is a nonprofit organization supporting people of all faiths whose mission is to foster multicultural relationships by assisting in the integration of refugees into American society and educating communities on the challenges facing newcomer populations through their stories. We pick up the resettlement process where the U.S. refugee resettlement agencies leave off. BP bridges the gap- from arrival to self-sufficiency.
The Case Manager will report to the Family Support Manager and develop and implement processes to assist and track each family’s immigration status and progress towards self sufficiency and integration into the community.
Duties:
Create and maintain family files
Demonstrate knowledge of government benefits and immigration processes and policies.
Provide appropriate resources and referrals to other strategic partners (government benefits, legal assistance, mental and physical health services).
Maintain documentation of each family’s immigration status and government benefits. Document all recommendations and client interactions.
Develop and maintain online guides to local resources for housing searches, affordable health care, schools, English as a Second Language classes, and recreational and camp activities for children and teens
Assist Family Support Manager in tracking each family’s finances.
Visit Chicago area families regularly with the Family Support Manager and Volunteers
Attend and assist at family/volunteer social functions.
Work with the Family Support Manager to assess each family’s progress towards self sufficiency and to set short term goals for growth in that direction as part of family agreements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field
Demonstrated knowledge of various types of visas and other immigration status designations. Understanding of current federal challenges to immigrant’s legal residence status.
Ability to evaluate client’s needs.
Critical thinking and decision making to create viable care plans and family agreements.
Experience working with newcomers and knowledge of resources available.
Strong interest in working across cultures and with family members of all ages.
The ability to work independently while also contributing to a healthy team environment
Fluent in English. Second language, especially Spanish, Arabic, French or Farsi a plus.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $1,667.00 – $2,083.00 per month
