Capital Campaign Manager Position Description

The Cedars Union is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing resources for artists including studios, tools, programs, and services, to foster a collaborative artistic community, and to advance the arts in North Texas.
Capital Campaign Coordinator Job Description:
The CU seeks an experienced, Capital Campaign Manager to advance a $1.5M fundraising effort tied to relocation, capital needs, and renewable annual operating support. This part-time role supports the Executive Director and Board in moving campaign work forward weekly. Responsibilities include prospect strategy, donor preparation, campaign follow-up, donor engagement, campaign-related events, gift processing and acknowledgements, and assigned solicitation support. The Executive Director, Board members, and campaign committee will remain the primary solicitors for major gifts and overall campaign accountability.
This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Executive Committee, Manager of Marketing & Development, campaign committee, Board, volunteers, and staff.
Responsibilities:
Campaign Fundraising Strategy & Execution
- Help maintain a practical fundraising plan with the Executive Director and campaign committee, covering prospect priorities, ask timing, donor strategy, and follow-up rhythms.
- Keep campaign fundraising activity moving by identifying next steps, overdue follow-up, and opportunities for timely donor engagement.
- Work collaboratively with staff to help align campaign fundraising efforts with general marketing, PR, regular donor stewardship, and move/construction management.
Donor Preparation, Relationship Support & Assigned Asks
- Support relationship-building with assigned campaign prospects and donors through preparation, follow-up, stewardship, and participation in donor meetings.
- Prepare donor briefings, talking points, proposals, pledge language, stewardship notes, and follow-up materials.
- Ensure donors receive timely follow-up and stewardship.
- Lead select grant applications and support others with the Manager of Marketing & Development, including drafting narratives, coordinating materials, tracking deadlines, and funder follow-up.
Prospect Pipeline & Campaign Coordination
- Manage the prospect pipeline with the Executive Director and Manager of Marketing & Development.
- Track donor strategy, assignments, asks, pledges, gifts, next steps, and follow-up needs.
- Assist in improving processes related to gift processing, moves management, and other campaign-related operations.
- Help organize campaign committee and Board fundraising assignments and follow-up.
- Prepare agendas, notes, and follow-up items for meetings.
- Coordinate with staff to keep campaign records and donor information accurate.
Campaign Events & Donor Engagement
- Help plan and coordinate donor engagement events: cultivation gatherings, briefings, tours, stewardship moments, and updates.
- Coordinate with the Manager of Marketing & Development on invitations, guest lists, communications, and branded materials.
- Coordinate post-event follow-up, including next steps, stewardship, and assigned asks.
Time Priorities
- Because this is a 20–30 hour/week role, priorities are:
- First: donor strategy, preparation, follow-up, campaign pipeline, and assigned solicitation support.
- Second: committee and Board fundraising coordination.
- Third: events and donor engagement, with logistics shared by staff.
- Not a priority: general marketing or routine annual giving.
Key Qualifications
- At least 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, campaign fundraising, major gifts support, development operations.
- Experience with capital campaigns ($2M+ goals), special campaigns, major gift fundraising, or donor-facing campaign support required.
- Comfort participating in donor meetings and supporting solicitation strategy; ability to make assigned asks when appropriate.
- Strong donor judgment, writing skills, and ability to translate organizational needs into clear donor-facing language.
- Excellent organization and follow-through; ability to manage multiple prospects, deadlines, and next steps.
- CRM experience for tracking donor strategy, gifts, pledges, and follow-up; campaign best practices preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a small, fast-moving nonprofit.
- Alignment with The CU’s values and mission and interest in supporting North Texas artists.
Work Environment:
The CU offers a hybrid, flexible workplace with required in-person meetings. Some evening and weekend availability needed for donor meetings, Board meetings, committee meetings, or campaign events.

Pay & Benefits:
The pay range for this part-time position is $45 – $65 per hour, based on experience, for 20-30 hours per week. This position is not expected to be eligible for full-time employee benefits.
This temporary position is expected to last 12–18 months, based on campaign timeline, funding, and organizational needs. As needs evolve, The CU may consider whether continued or expanded support makes sense, but any extension, change in hours, or future role would depend on organizational need, funding availability, performance, and approval through The CU’s normal hiring and budgeting processes.
