Role Description The Board Member role (various positions available – READ BELOW FOR POSITION TITLES & HOW TO APPLY) is a part-time, hybrid, volunteer-based position based in Henrico, VA, with some work-from-home flexibility. Board Members provide strategic guidance, participate in governance decisions, and help shape the organization’s vision and long-term goals. Day-to-day responsibilities may include attending board and committee meetings, offering input on programs and outreach initiatives, and supporting fundraising or partnership-building efforts. Board Members also serve as ambassadors for Sisters of Sabr, promoting its mission, engaging with the community, and supporting the development of spaces for Muslim women’s faith, wellness, and leadership. This role involves collaboration with other board members, staff, and volunteers to ensure the organization remains sustainable, impactful, and aligned with its values.
Qualifications
- Experience in nonprofit governance, strategic planning, or organizational leadership, with the ability to provide informed guidance and oversight.
- Background in community engagement, program development, or social impact initiatives, preferably with familiarity with Muslim communities or faith-based work.
- Skills in communication, collaboration, and problem solving, with the ability to work effectively with diverse community members and maintain a respectful, inclusive environment.
- Commitment to Sisters of Sabr’s mission of faith, compassion, and service, and willingness to participate actively in board meetings and organizational activities.
