Board Member – Director of Communications Jobs in Piedmont, CA at The Orion Fund
The Orion Fund is a small non-profit that provides grants to California college students in health crisis. Over the past 20 years, The Orion Fund has become a resource at 70+ college campuses statewide. Grants have paid medical, educational and living expenses to students in medical crisis… from car crashes to cancer, we help students until they can recover.
We are looking for a volunteer Board Member to join our current Board of seven dedicated volunteers. We are assembling a team to re-frame and increase the visibility of The Orion Fund to potential donors, our students and our campus partners. We are looking for someone with the time and expertise to join our Board and direct our communications more effectively in a challenging environment for non-profits.
Director of Communications (4 to 8 hours a month)
● Work with the President, our Director of Student & Campus Communications, our fundraiser and our webmaster to craft The Orion Fund outward messaging and echo this messaging in our newsletter, on the website and in other ways that you recommend.
● Assume responsibility for our quarterly newsletter through Constant Contact.
● Assistance and ideas for golf tournament newsletters and fundraising for our 20th Anniversary Charity Golf Tournament much appreciated (June through October). Our intent is to make this event the biggest ever in honor of our students and The Orion Fund.
● New ideas for Communications and Marketing always appreciated.
Experience:
● Enjoy working with non-profits and experience conveying our core values, mission, students and our impact to potential donors, campuses and students.
● Willing to learn Constant Contact (our bulk emailer; email templates and email lists for the newsletters).
