What We’re Looking For

We seek active, engaged leaders who are committed to rolling up their sleeves and moving the mission forward. Our ideal board members are:

  • Passionate about equity in healthcare and improving quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Willing to leverage their time, talents, and networks to support fundraising, advocacy, and strategic growth.
  • Excited to serve as ambassadors for the DDD Foundation in the community.
  • Ready to actively participate in board meetings, committee work, and events.
  • Generous in spirit – willing to make a personally meaningful financial contribution to the Foundation and help open doors to new supporters.

Expectations of a Board Member

  • To act as a voting member of the Board of Directors with full authority and responsibility to develop policies for the operation of the DDD Foundation, Inc., to fulfill fiduciary duties of care, loyalty, and obedience, and to monitor the DDD Foundation’s financial health, legal compliance, programs, and overall performance.
  • Attend and actively participate in a minimum of four bi-monthly board meetings. There are a total of six board meetings per year (February, April, June, August, October and December). Most meetings are held virtually, but August and December require in-person attendance.
  • Join a committee that speaks to you and actively participate in committee activities as needed.
  • Serve as an advocate and ambassador for the Foundation in personal and professional circles.
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts through personal giving and by connecting us with potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Support and attend major events, such as the annual Dental Dash at Dawn 5K.
  • Offer guidance, expertise, and oversight to ensure the Foundation’s mission, values, and long‑term sustainability.
  • Make a minimum $500 personal contribution to the Foundation annually.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all board matters
  • Disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest and comply with all DDD Foundation conflict of interest and ethics policies. (A Conflict of Interest form is distributed to all board members for signature at the February meeting each year).

Time Commitment

  • Board Term:
    Three years, renewable once for a maximum of six years
  • Meetings:
    Minimum of four per year (with committee participation as needed)
  • Events:
    One-to-two signature events annually
