Role Description
This is a volunteer role for a Board Member at GISD. The Board Member will be responsible for providing strategic direction, governance, and oversight to the organization. They will participate in board meetings, contribute to the development of policies and programs, and engage in community outreach and advocacy efforts. This role is on-site and located in Fairfax, VA.
Qualifications
Experience in governance, strategic planning, and policy development
Skills in community engagement, advocacy, and public speaking
Knowledge of education, technology and AI literacy, economic empowerment, and poverty reduction
Strong networking abilities and a commitment to the mission of GISD
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Previous experience in nonprofit organizations is a plus
Ability to commit time to attend meetings and participate in events
