Job Description

The Alpha House, Inc. Board of Directors comprises leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on the Alpha House, Inc. Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about strengthening leadership and governance in the nonprofit sector.

Board members are expected to have the financial acumen to read and understand Alpha House Inc. financial statements and to otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.

Board members are expected to attend at least one-half of all regular, special and committee meetings per year. Regular meetings are held monthly on the third Thursday at 6:30 p.m. They are expected to read board materials in advance of board meetings and to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions. Board meetings are currently held via Zoom but candidate must be able and willing to attend in person if required.

Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to actively participate in committee work.

Board members are expected to responsibly represent Alpha House, Inc. to their respective communities and to advocate for Alpha House Inc. Organization’s mission, programs, and services as appropriate.

Board terms last for one, two and three years.

Desired Skills and Expertise

Alpha House, Inc. is currently recruiting for diverse leaders to become members of our Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will have professional leadership experience in business, government, law or the nonprofit sector and experience in one or more of the following areas: financial oversight, volunteer and member recruitment, building construction contracts and advocacy professionals with experience in advocacy strategies supporting a cause or issue. Prior membership on an active Board is preferred but not required.
