Role Description The Benefits Manager is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing and administering employee benefits programs for BOMBER ALUMNI HOUSE. Day-to-day tasks include managing health, dental, vision, and retirement plans; ensuring accurate enrollment and changes; and serving as a primary contact for employee benefits questions. The role involves maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including FMLA and COBRA, coordinating with external vendors and brokers, and monitoring benefits costs and utilization. The Benefits Manager will analyze benefits data, recommend improvements, support annual open enrollment, and collaborate with leadership and HR to align benefits offerings with organizational needs and budget.
Qualifications

  • Benefits Administration and Benefits Management skills to design, manage, and optimize employee benefits programs.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and COBRA to ensure regulatory compliance and proper handling of leave and continuation of coverage.
  • Strong Analytical Skills to interpret benefits data, identify trends, and support data-informed decision-making.
  • Experience working with benefits vendors, brokers, and HR information systems or payroll platforms.
  • Understanding of federal and state employment and benefits regulations; experience in a nonprofit or cultural institution is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex benefits information clearly to employees.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Professional HR or benefits certification (such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or CEBS) is preferred but not required.
