BAY-CASH
Boston Area Youth Cash Assistance for Stable Housing (BAY-CASH) is a pilot project testing a new intervention model aimed at ending youth homelessness in Massachusetts through unconditional cash payments and support services. Our goal is to provide evidence for statewide implementation.
Role Overview
The BAY-CASH Program Mentor will supervise, mentor, and support the Peer Navigator, conducting assessments, enrollments, data entry, benefits counseling, financial coaching, referrals, and follow-ups. They will collaborate with young adults to develop housing and service plans, support external relationships, and act as the primary liaison among project partners.

The role emphasizes a participant-led, strengths-based, compassionate approach to support long-term success, including problem solving, motivational interviewing, and positive youth development.
Roles & Responsibilities
Support and supervise the Peer Navigator, including weekly meetings and development plans.
Develop and implement professional growth strategies for the team.
Assess participant needs, coordinate services, and facilitate external referrals.
Manage crises and develop coping strategies with participants.
Lead financial coaching and benefits counseling sessions.
Advocate for participants internally and externally.
Ensure quality and continuity of services, accurate data collection, and progress evaluation.
Maintain communication with stakeholders and participate in team meetings and training.
Contribute to policy development and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to supporting BAY-CASH participants and team development.
Preferred: Lived experience with housing instability or homelessness between ages 16-26.
Required: At least 4 years of professional experience in case management or related fields, with success working with youth facing housing instability; 1+ year supervising or mentoring; strong assessment, planning, and case management skills; leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills; proficiency with Google Workspace; and alignment with BAY-CASH and Breaktime values.
Preferred: Knowledge of local resources, data collection experience, bilingual skills, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction experience.
This is a grant-funded, fixed-term role with a 3-year duration, including training, project operation, and off-boarding phases. Continued employment depends on ongoing grant funding.
