Position

CARE seeks a visionary leader with a demonstrated track record of excellence in people management, program development and execution, resource mobilization and having an impact on endemic poverty in the United States.

The leader of CARE’s United States Program will lead the next phase of growth in applying successful anti-poverty tools from around the world to the United States. CARE seeks to grow this million-dollar program into a major $50M+ force for addressing multidimensional poverty in the United States. It is an extraordinary opportunity for a boldentrepreneurialleader that wants to utilize CARE’s platform to create scaled change.

CARE has succeeded in responding to emergencies in the US through its CARE Partner Network of community-based organizations along the Gulf Coast, like its Humanitarian Partnership Platform in the Philippines and other countries. CARE is now a leader in providing cash assistance to families often overlooked by federal and state emergency programs.

CARE’s US Program is also pilotinginnovativesavings programs modeled after the Village Savings and Loan Association program that CARE has pioneered around the world, the ambition of adapting and scaling this program to hundreds of thousands of people in the US with little access to savings and credit.

The leader of US Programs will engage stakeholders in creating a vision and growth strategy for the program and will motivate a team of talented staff to deepen their impact, capacities, and application of CARE’s global best practices.

This leader will work closely and directly with CARE’s CEO and the Vice President for US Programs and Policy (USPPA), as well as with board members andsenior leadershipacross the organization, to carry out a joint vision. The head of US Programs will represent CARE in numerous external fora and in the media.

Responsibilities

Vision and Strategy | 20%

Working closely with the CEO, VP of USPPA and other program leaders at CARE, the head of US Programs will create a bold vision and clear strategic plan for CARE’s programming in the United States.

This leader should source program ideas to pilot and test in the US, ensure excellence in MEAL functions for learning and adapting during pilots, and then lead the scaling of successful pilots.
